uses the biological journey of a mangrove seed
as a metaphor to represent the human journey from childhood innocence into adulthood.

A baby mangrove seed is washed out into the ocean during a hurricane.
Fear engulfs the mangrove seed.
  It is powerless against the strong waves, has no directions for surviving in the ocean.
The seed has lost all its friends and safety of the mangrove forest.

Through many animal characters visited on four mangrove islands,
the lost seed learns to balance its fears with trust.

Mangroves are plants that grow into tree forests and are found along tropical shorelines of all continents around the world. 180px-Mangroves1.JPG.jpeg They protect the mainlands from erosion,  provide barriers from winds and waves, have the unique ability to desalinate brackish water around them, create nesting areas for birds to roost, and provide healthy harbor for fish.

The actual journey of a biological mangrove seed is truly a unique story.  It can float thousands of miles, and through many violent ocean storms, before it sets down its taproot.  In time, it grows into a island of many trees.

There are basic three types of mangrove trees, red,black, and white.  They form an ecological community that not only provides for their own survival and growth, but also provides a home for sea and bird life that make their home on the mangrove islands.
