WHAT ARE THE WORKSHOPS
THE IDENTITY QUEST workshops
attempt to facilitate
a consistent pattern of holistic wellness
in personal daily living that is anchored in
• INNER PEACE, and reflected in
• AUTHENTIC OUTER S(s)ELF EXPRESSION
The timeless philosophical inquiry that underlies THE IDENTITY QUEST is concerned with finding personal answers to three critical questions
- Who (what) am I ?
- What am I to do while living ?
- How am I to live (by what ethical principles) ?
Through experiential exercises according to the Mangrove Seed holistic model for wellness, a person can maintain both a balanced and peaceful inner and outer lifestyle through
- recovery from an emotionally imbalanced life
- discovery of their “true” inner S(s)elf consisiting of both the rational and intuitive minds
- rebalancing their path to authentic outer S(s)elf expression
WHY THE WORKSHOPS WORK
If we
• heal past external traumatic impacts through modification of internally created obstacles to authentic S(s)elf expression
• reduce inner anxiety through
a re-balancing of the whole person, i.e., physical, emotional,
intellectual, social, practical, and spiritual aspects of S(s)elf
• clarify personal life purpose and direction through S(s)elf discovery and development of a “peaceful coping consciousness” Then, S(s)elf BALANCING can occur
Personal transformation results from this patient and conscious process that involves
• re-surfacing past memories about personal life experiences
• re-examining current attitudes and beliefs based upon those past memories
• re-interpreting the memories, attitudes, and beliefs in line with current personal values and future intentions
The workshop process engages BOTH the rational, fear-based, “left brain,”
and the intuitive, trust-based “right brain.”
However, the primary focus is to examine the FEELINGS
surrounding past life experiences, and
the personal interpretations associated with them.
The goal is to enter a new space of conscious daily living
that can balance emotions with reason,
and vice versa.
WHAT THEY BASICALLY INVOLVE
THE IDENTITY QUEST workshops primarily use
images, text, and music in a four step process
1.
A person creates, edits, and displays images(still and moving) of text
and activities, and then, combines them with musical sound and lyrics
2. Through personal meditative reflection(both cognitive and
intuitive), a person then re-visits the thematic guidelines used to
gather the images and sounds. New inner interpretations of personal Truth often result from this process.
3. After the inner work has been done, an interpersonal
dialogue with others in a trusting group setting allows a person to
receive outer, non-judgmental commentary about their artistic creations
4. Finally, a person integrates the inner reflections and outer dialogue into a future plan for personal transformation in daily living.
(Supplementary programs that use dance, crafts, and other expressive arts
can be offered in conjunction with the above process)
